Performed by MADS on the MOVE, our outreach arm, this was an charity event in co-operation with St Mark's Players and supporting 'Dyscover' which provides long-term support and opportunities to people with aphasia and their families. The audience was entertained by a one act play and a 'miscellany' of sketches, songs, prose and poetry as well as a Lindy Hop demonstration from Swing Thing.
Dyscover, based in Walton on the Hill and New Malden, is a charity which specialises in offering long term support to people with aphasia, a communication disability most often caused by stroke.
Aphasia is an isolating, frustrating condition which has an enormous impact on individuals and whole families. At Dyscover we help people to communicate to the best of their ability, regain confidence and reconnect with life by offering a programme of professionally led conversation groups, courses and social activities.
Dyscover receives no statutory funding and so is entirely reliant on grants donations and local fundraising. We are extremely grateful to MADS for supporting us through this event.
